Juliuis Baer Beach Polo World Cup in Sylt
The bright skies of the North Sea saw Team Lanson, formed by Thomas Winter and Christian Grimme, emerge as the champions of the Julius Baer Beach Polo World Cup in the popular island of Sylt, once again. Five teams of two players each played against each other in an all-play-all (round-robin) tournament. That means that each team played all other teams and then, from the number of goals and points for each match played, the positions of the teams were determined. Patrick Maleitzke, of Team König Pilsener, was the MVP of the tournament, an award presented by the argentinean brand La Martina, that was also the official supplier of the tournament; his teammate from the Netherlands, René Kleinlugtenbelt cheered enthusiastically as not only his friend received the award, but also they were placed second in this prestigious cup. Young Caspar Crasemann and the recognized polista Christopher “Niffy” Winter of the team of the title sponsor Julius Baer, the third place. Fourth place went to Team Maserati formed by Marc Aberle and Tim Ward, and finally the fifth position was for Team Pomellato/Windy, with argentinian Agustin Kronhaus and Frank Kirschke. Another edition of the much-awaited Hörnum tourmament was finalized with great feedback by sponsors, audience, and everyone now is counting the days until the next edition on this seaside german hotspot.
